How to Install Android 8.0 Oreo on OnePlus One

OnePlus One was the first smartphone from OnePlus and now the OnePlus became a big brand competing with some of the leading smartphone brands. OnePlus is not providing further version update to Oneplus one. So, if you own a OnePlus one then you won’t get official Android 8.0 Oreo update on your smartphone.

How to Install Android 8.0 Oreo on OnePlus One

  1. Download the Android 8.0 Oreo custom ROM file from here, also download the Gapps zip file from here.
  2. Move both the file to your smartphone’s internal storage, in the root directory.
  3. Now, reboot your smartphone to the recovery mode. Turn the phone off completely and turn it on by pressing the volume down and power button for some time.
  4. First, create a backup of previously installed custom ROM using the Backup option in the TWRP recovery.
  5. After the backup completes, tap the Wipe option and confirm to factory reset the smartphone.
  6. After wiping, tap on Install button and select the custom ROM zip file and confirm to install it on the smartphone.
  7. After installation completes, install the Gapps zip file just like the custom ROM.

Once the installation completes, reboot the smartphone to the system and your phone will boot to the latest Android 8.0 Oreo custom ROM.


You might see an error window saying “Process system isn’t responding”, don’t worry just tap “Wait”. Also, just skip every part of the setup from setup screen, you can add your Google id later and install a third party keyboard as the default one is buggy. Except these, your smartphone will run smoothly and ready as your daily driver.
