Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with MIUI 10 running on it and still it is based on the Android 8.1 Oreo. If you do not like the user interface of the MIUI 10 and want to change it a little bit then what about Samsung Experience UI 9.5? A developer on XDADevelopers forum has ported the Samsung Experience 9.5 from Samsung Galaxy S9+ to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. This custom ROM will change the user interface of the smartphone thoroughly to look like Samsung Galaxy S9+. The custom ROM installation is a bit tricky, so you need to take care and read the precautions before.


  • The custom ROM installation will void the smartphone’s warranty so make sure that you know what you are doing.
  • Make sure that your smartphone should have TWRP custom recovery installed on it.
  • The data on your phone might get wiped up so create a backup of all the vital data you are going to need.
  • There are some bugs in the custom ROM, but still, this custom ROM is suitable for a daily driver.
  • Make sure that your smartphone is charged to at least 80 percent of the battery.
  • Do not try to install this custom ROM on any other smartphone.

Steps to install the Samsung Experience ROM on Redmi Note 5 Pro

  1. Download the Samsung Experience custom ROM and move the zip file on your smartphone.
  2. Now, reboot your smartphone to the TWRP recovery.
  3. First, use the Backup option to back up the previously installed firmware.
  4. Now use the Wipe option to wipe the system storage.
  5. Finally, install the custom ROM zip file using the Install option in the recovery.
  6. After installation completes, reboot the smartphone to the system mode.

Caution: At the end of the SetupWizard make sure to disable Weather Widget location access etc. Otherwise, it will crash SetupWizard. If You miss it, tap next on all SetupWizard pages and disable Weather Widget location access then.


The smartphone wil take some time to boot for the first time so relax and let it reboot. Once, the phone boots, it will present you with the setup screen. You will now be able to use your phone just like before.
